Faculty Of Agriculture
Introduction
Afghanistan is an agricultural country and in order to advance agricultural affairs and provide food of high quality and quantity for the needy, there is an urgent need for managers with expertise, commitment, and modern knowledge and technology. In this regard, the Faculty of Agriculture was established as a center for training purposeful, capable, and committed technical and professional staff in the country's higher education system at the Sar-e-Pul Institute of Higher Education.
History of the Faculty of Agriculture
With the help and grace of God Almighty, the Faculty of Agriculture was established in 2019 within the framework of the Sar-e-Pul Institute of Higher Education with two departments (Agronomy and Horticulture (Graduate)). In 2024, the Department of Agricultural Economics and Development was added to the faculty, but due to the lack of professors, it has not yet recruited students. The purpose of establishing this faculty is to participate in the reconstruction and prosperity of the country, and in this regard, it strives diligently to improve scientific knowledge and raise the level of awareness of the young generation in accordance with scientific and international standards, so that they can serve sincerely by earning the pleasure of God Almighty. In terms of administrative organization, the Faculty of Agriculture has a dean and deputy dean, department heads, staff members, teaching management, executive and service director. The number of academic staff members of this faculty reaches 9 people. 1 of whom is studying for a doctorate, 1 is a master's degree, 3 are studying for a master's degree, and 3 are associate professor candidates. The curriculum system of this faculty has been a credit system since its establishment, which is taught, implemented, and practiced based on the credit system bill. Students are recruited to this faculty through the entrance exam. New students study for two semesters, that is, one year, in a general and joint manner, and then continue their education in their respective fields according to the procedures of this faculty. The Faculty of Agriculture, in accordance with the regular plan, laws, bills and procedures, has taken steps to advance educational and training affairs in various dimensions by providing appropriate conditions for proper and desirable utilization, observing scientific standards and implementing laws in accordance with the policy of the esteemed Ministry of Higher Education, and we believe that we will succeed in achieving our goals.

The Faculty of Agriculture wants to be recognized as a reputable scientific faculty at the national level by providing educational services for the sustainability of agriculture, scientific-research services in accordance with accepted standards in order to strengthen the agriculture and livestock sector.
Faculty Mission:
The Faculty of Agriculture strives to provide the basis for training professional and committed cadres through educational and research services, so that students learn the skills of research, cultivation and production of agricultural products and play a valuable role in the development of society.

Faculty Stakeholders
Accurate identification and recognition of stakeholders helps us to consider their needs when designing strategies. The stakeholders of the Faculty of Agriculture are as follows:
- Internal stakeholders: Faculty leadership, professors, administrative staff and service staff.
- Related stakeholders: Students, higher education institution officials, Ministry of Higher Education, four faculties, employers, partner institutions such as: FAO, WFP, NHLP, GIZ, etc.
- External stakeholders: Sar-e-Pul local administration, government agencies, people, civil society organizations and media.
Departments of the Faculty of Agriculture
The Faculty of Agriculture of Sar-e-Pul Higher Education Institute has three departments, including the Department of Agronomy, Horticulture and Agricultural Economics and Development.
Department of Agronomy
The Department of Agronomy emerged in 2020 with the establishment of the Faculty of Agriculture of Sar-e-Pul Higher Education Institute as an independent and graduate department. Since its establishment, it has played a role as one of the active departments of the Faculty of Agriculture in the country. Of course, the purpose of establishing this department is to provide technical, standard and quality knowledge in various parts of agronomy to students for their effective participation in society and to provide cadres and specialists in the field of agronomy in the country. So that Afghan agriculture can grow and develop better and achieve self-sufficiency in food resources.
Department of Horticulture
The Department of Horticulture is one of the major and basic parts of agricultural sciences that was established in 2010 as a graduate department within the framework of the Faculty of Agriculture of the Sar-e-Pul Institute of Higher Education. The main goal of the Department of Horticulture is to educate young cadres to know the methods of cultivation, cultivation, collection, storage and processing of fruits, vegetables, nuts and methods of planning and designing lawns, flowers and ornamental plants.
Department of Agricultural Economics and Development
This department was approved in 2014 by the Leadership Council of the Honorable Ministry of Higher Education and its formation has not been accepted until now. It is hoped that the above-mentioned department will soon start its activities as a graduate department.
E-learning
This faculty is equipped with teaching and educational facilities such as agricultural research farms, projector teaching, internet access, and a library at the institution level. A memorandum of understanding has been signed with the esteemed Department of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, the Sar-e-Pul Municipality, and the Dehdadi Research Farm and Library.
