History and Report of the Faculty of Education of the Sar-e-Pul Institute of Higher Education for the Year 1402
The Faculty of Education was established in 1391 AH within the framework of the Sar-e-Pul Institute of Higher Education by forming two departments (Chemistry-Biology and Mathematics-Physics) and began its scientific activities. The activities of this faculty are carried out in accordance with the laws, regulations and procedures of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the Ministry of Higher Education. This faculty currently has six departments that are engaged in the education and training of young men from different provinces of the country in the fields of (Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Physics, English Language and Literature and Uzbek Language and Literature). Currently, there are (32) academic staff members with different academic ranks engaged in teaching and their academic activities in the Faculty of Education. Fortunately, there are (25) master's professors and (4) professors who are currently pursuing master's and doctoral degrees in different countries, and (3) others are currently pursuing bachelor's degrees.
The Faculty of Education of Sar-e-Pul Institute of Higher Education is a scientific institution committed to ethical values, human dignity, and mutual respect and trust. The Faculty of Education aims to become a quality faculty committed to modern scientific teaching and research, with effective and efficient management that meets the needs of society and has a special position. The Faculty of Education trains professional and knowledgeable cadres in six different disciplines. It trains students as innovative, dynamic, and patriotic people and contributes to the progress and development of society.
Monitoring and evaluating scientific programs at the level of each educational institution is a serious need that must be examined until scientific and administrative activities and works are reviewed so that the expected results are achieved. The Faculty of Education of the Sar-e-Pul Institute of Higher Education also reviews its scientific, teaching and administrative functions and activities every year according to the regulations and evaluation criteria. In 1402, the scientific functions and activities of this faculty were evaluated according to the quality assurance criteria of this institution. This report contains evaluations, the launch of scientific programs, the way professors teach and treat students, the number of male students, the number of academic staff members with a breakdown of scientific rank and educational degrees, and a list of the scientific programs and activities of students in six departments of the Faculty of Education of the Sar-e-Pul Institute of Higher Education.
This report reflects the results of the work, efforts and scientific activities of the head, administrators and professors in two semesters (spring and autumn) of 1402. In addition, the professors of this faculty are effective in implementing the bills and procedures of the Ministry of Higher Education, presenting scientific conferences, writing articles in national and international journals, and launching scientific programs of this educational institution to raise the level of education and polish the talents of students.
It is worth mentioning that the Faculty of Education is facing a shortage of scientific staff, lack of a well-equipped library, conference halls, laboratory materials, technological equipment to facilitate education, etc. The above deficiencies have caused a slowdown in the scientific process.
Effective activities in the past year: In this section, brief information about the activities carried out this year and a comparison with the previous year are provided.
- Establishing communication with government departments, especially with the Department of Education, and signing a memorandum of understanding;
- Introducing fourth-grade students as teachers in six different departments in Sar-e-Pul schools;
- Organizing scientific conferences for professors and students;
- Establishing committees at the faculty level;
- Monitoring the implementation of the curriculum at the faculty level;
- Recruiting professors in departments;
- Preparing proposals and suggestions for departments (Dari, Pashto and vocational education);
- Selecting members of the faculty's academic council in accordance with the law of the Ministry of Higher Education;
- Renewing journals in the six departments;
- Implementing time distribution and monitoring of classes;
- Selecting department heads in accordance with the law of the Ministry of Higher Education;
- Academic promotion of professors to the academic rank of a faculty member;
- Reviewing the curriculum and moving Islamic culture subjects;
- Encouraging and organizing religious lessons for students;
- Creating English courses for faculty members;
- Introducing professors to continue their studies in the doctoral program;
- Introducing and working on the HEMIS system
The Faculty of Education operates under the umbrella of the applicable laws of the country and the bills and procedures of the esteemed Ministry of Higher Education and strives for better progress and creating effective educational opportunities for young people and enhancing the capacity of the younger generation of society without wasting time. This faculty has been monitoring and evaluating its activities every year from a special and legal perspective. It has prepared operational plans and necessary measures taking into account the results of the evaluations and has taken steps to eliminate deficiencies. This scientific institution, taking into account the activities and measures that have been taken during the year 1402 to improve the teaching system and administrative affairs at the faculty level, has prepared information on all its scientific and administrative activities and functions in a systematic manner by arranging tables, which includes information such as effective activities of the past year, measures to eliminate deficiencies, student progress, recruitment of students in previous years, physical and human resources, but collecting students' opinions on relevant matters, evaluation of professors by students, and other matters. It is worth mentioning that academic promotion in educational institutions is considered one of the important and fundamental principles in addition to teaching, so during the current year, professors were able to achieve a rotating academic rank by writing theses, articles, and presenting scientific conferences.
